HOLIDAY GIVING

The holiday season is a generous time of year, with many people donating time, talent and treasure to those in need.  Once again, the Sara Holbrook Community Center is running its' Experience Gifts program. Instead of coats and toys, the treasure given is an experience outside of the Center. From ice skating at Leddy Park Ice Arena to visiting the ECHO Center to creating a piece of pottery at Burlington City Arts' Craft Studio, Experience Gifts is a way to give kids opportunities that they might not otherwise have.

Children involved at the Center last year were able to explore their community: ice-skating, painting pottery, learning about art at the Fleming Museum, exploring winter in Vermont on snow-shoes, experiencing the awe of the big-screen at the movies, and more.  Thank you for making these great things happen!

Many donors choose to give a gift of stock. Talk to your financial advisor about how much you would like to give and potential benefits, such as avoided capital gains tax. When the SHCC receives shares of stock, the Board of Directors may sell the shares at current prices, hold on to the stock in order to receive dividend income, or to sell it when the price goes up. The SHCC Board works with a qualified financial advisor to make the most of every such gift.
